How you respond to conflict can make a big difference in the outcome. It can also impact how you feel about yourself, the other person, and your work. In spite of this, most people have difficulty dealing effectively with interpersonal conflict, especially in the workplace. Most of us were not explicitly taught effective communication and conflict resolution skills. What we did learn came from the modeling of our parents, families and culture. If the way you are responding to your current situation is not working, I can help.

Professional communication coaching can assist you to deal with your interpersonal conflict quickly and effectively.

Kate Kendrick’s assistance was invaluable to me as I navigated my way through some very challenging email communications related to my work. She helped me to first clarify my own needs and desires, and then to thoughtfully and respectfully communicate those in writing. This, in turn, caused the entire group dynamic to shift, after having been stuck for close to one year. Since then, I don’t hesitate to contact Kate if I need another point of view,  or more clarity about my own feelings, or to communicate something with a sensitive nature. Of all the professionals I have worked with in the last decade, I find Kate to be one of the most highly skilled and most helpful to me. “

Questions & Answers:

What happens in a session?

In our sessions together, I provide confidential, skilled and compassionate support to help you find relief and the confidence that you can handle your work related/professional conflicts with ease. During each session, I assist you to listen to your own feelings, emotions and sensations with kindness and curiosity first. This provides the spaciousness needed for your needs and values to reveal themselves through a bodily felt experience. Once you have made the shift to full-body knowing of what matters most to you in the situation, I coach you in how to enter into a dialogue that leads to mutual respect, understanding and resolution.

I draw on my intuition, body awareness practices and many years of training, experience and skill as a Nonviolent Communication practitioner, mediator, restorative justice facilitator and therapist. Sessions are for individuals or partners, and can be done by phone, in person or by Skype.

How many sessions will it take? I don’t want to dish out a lot of money for multiple sessions.

Often you can get what you need in one or two 50minute sessions.

I keep thinking that if I don’t say anything, the issue will resolve itself.

It definitely could. Sometimes avoiding the subject is the best approach. But if the situation continues to cause you distress at work or at home, then you may benefit from some additional support.

I don’t want to be aggressive and bowl people over, like I see some people doing.

I assist you to speak your needs clearly, but in a way that still takes others’ needs into consideration. I assist you to find language that encourages mutual respect and understanding.
